City of Waiblingen: Scholarship for Drawing and Paper Art 2026 (Germany)

Title of the call on a background of paper.

The Scholarship for Drawing and Paper Art of the City of Waiblingen will be awarded in 2026 for the second time. The artist residency will take place from 15 June to 26 July 2026 in Waiblingen near Stuttgart, Germany.

It is made possible through the support of the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation as a result of a bequest by Renate Reichert to the foundation. The cross-generational project brings established artistic positions together with young, emerging artists, with mentor Angela Glajcar.

The City of Waiblingen invites three international artists to work in the Galerie im Kameralamt for six weeks, from 15 June 2026. Once a week, within the framework of an open studio, the public as well as groups of pupils have the possibility to look over the artists’ shoulders and enter into conversation with them. At the end of the six weeks, the works produced will be presented in a joint exhibition at the Galerie im Kameralamt from 25 July to 18 October 2026.

In addition, the stipend holders participate during the course of the exhibition in a supporting programme with workshops in cooperation with the Kunstschule Unteres Remstal.

Up to three artists can apply for the scholarship, individually, in duos or in groups of three. The applicants must have an artistic focus on works on and from paper and be a maximum of 7 years after graduation. The working language is German and/or English.

The programme includes the following:

  • Free travel to and from the venue as well as accommodation during the six-week residency
  • Honorarium of 2,500 EUR
  • Food allowance of 1,000 EUR
  • Budget for materials and equipment of 1,000 EUR for the works created on site
