Casa Árabe and PHotoEspaña jointly present the third edition of NUR, an open call for applications for a photography exhibition on contemporary Arab culture that will be displayed at Casa Árabe’s premises as part of the 26th PHotoESPAÑA International Photography Festival, within its official programme, to be held in 2023.
The goal of NUR نور (‘Light’) is to continue to give visibility to – and increase awareness of – a project that offers a look at one or several aspects of Arab societies that relate to the conservation of the environment, a sustainable future, and the relationship of human beings with nature. The purpose of this call is to reward efforts that are innovative yet also convey current topics related to real-life situations in the contemporary Arab world. The call for entries is aimed at curators and institutions, and the project will be chosen by a panel of judges.
The call is aimed at Spanish and international curators and institutions that demonstrate, through the CV they submit with their application, previous experience in carrying out exhibition projects. The application may relate to an individual project or to a group of artists.
For the project to be accepted, it is essential that it should provide a contemporary look at some facet of Arab societies that relates to the conservation of the environment, a sustainable future and the relationship of human beings with nature.
The selected project will be on public display in the form of an exhibition at Casa Árabe’s Madrid premises in June 2023, as part of the 26th PHotoEspaña Festival, with the possibility of it being shown at a later date at Casa Árabe’s premises in Córdoba.
For the exhibition at the Madrid premises, Casa Árabe will allocate a maximum of 12,000 euros (including VAT).
