Every year, the Institut français gives nearly 70 prize-winners from all over the world the opportunity to develop a research and creative project in all artistic disciplines at the Cité internationale des arts.
The scheme is aimed at artists and cultural professionals living abroad, and awards residencies of three, six or nine months.
Artists are nominated by one or more cultural partners (French cultural network abroad, French or foreign cultural organisations) who support them by submitting their application and then paying for their international travel and residency allowance.
The Institut français offers the winners free studio accommodation at the Cité internationale des arts. Both institutions are involved in supporting the artists.
