Peculiar Families Festival, a contemporary circus festival organized by ROOM 100 in Split, Croatia, is opening two public calls through which it will select a part of the programme for its 4th edition happening in April 2023.
Selection criteria:
- Applications from artists/collectives residing/working in the following countries are acceptable: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia.
- The 4th edition of the Peculiar Families Festival will host a General Meeting of Circostrada Network in Split, Croatia, from the 19th to the 23rd of April 2023 so the thematic focus of the Festival is given to performances which are working with the topic of diverse body/ies. We would like to create a framework adapted to the contemporary circus and outdoor arts performances that are dedicated to the topics of fairness, equity, equality, inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility. Nevertheless, performances with other topics, concepts and ideas will be taken into consideration.
Open calls:
- For contemporary circus and outdoor art performances: The Festival is looking for contemporary circus and outdoor arts performances that have already premiered, will have a premiere by April 2023 or at the Festival itself. The minimum duration of the performance is 40 minutes; for outdoor art performances the minimum duration is 30 minutes.
- For the work-in-progress presentation of performances of contemporary circus and outdoor arts. The Festival is looking for contemporary circus and outdoor arts performances that are still in their production and will not have their premiere before the second part of 2023. The maximum duration of the work-in-progress presentation is 20 minutes.
The festival will cover travel expenses, accommodation and food expenses and provide the necessary equipment and technical team for the work-in-progress presentations, as well as the artist’s fee (in the amount of €200 to €500).
The General Meeting of Circostrada Network happening in Split/Croatia is jointly organized by Cirkorama (Zagreb), Cirkusfera (Belgrade) and ROOM 100 (Split) together with the coordination team of the network.
