PERFORMA-Q is a transnational European platform dedicated to surfacing erased queer stories from Europe’s periphery. For Cycle 1 of its Residency Programme, it is selecting six artists or collectives from the fields of theatre, dance, performance art, and performative writing for residencies between October 2026 and April 2027 (2–4 weeks).
The programme operates across six partner countries and functions as a dramaturgical incubator: a transnational space where fragile, untold narratives receive resources, mentorship, and the infrastructure to travel across borders.
Residencies will be with the following partners:
- Slovakia: NOMANTINELS
- Bosnia & Herzegovina: SARTR
- Czech Republic: CO.LABS
- Austria: Wiener Wortstaetten
- Sweden: Swedish Performing Arts Coalition
- Ukraine: Mariupol Theatre in Exile (in alternative partner spaces)
There are two categories: one is text-only (research and playwriting) and the other is production-based (for artists actively devising, rehearsing, or finalising a performative work).
The call is open to emerging and established professionals in the performing arts — theatre makers, directors, playwrights, dancers, performance artists, and collectives. Applications are welcome from individuals and groups.
What is offered:
- 1,500 EUR–4,000 EUR stipend
- Travel and accommodation covered as separate budget lines
- Rehearsal space and technical support at the host partner venue
- Tailored 1:1 mentorship developed in collaboration between the host and at least one other consortium partner
- Possible ‘Deep Touring’ and showcases at major events including the Drama Queer Festival (Bratislava) and Stockholm Pride, as well as regional showcases in Vienna, Brno, Sarajevo, and (where safe) Kyiv
